Seeds Pricing Explained from Lebanon Turf Co.

Website
As baffling as Wall Street seems to be some times, the market for grass seed can be even stranger from the outside looking in. Lebanon’s legendary seed guru, Murray Wingate, sheds light on the ups and downs for contractors of buying seed.

The economy is in the tank and prices are down, huh?
The seed industry is reacting to the downturn in a big way. More than 30 percent of the acres used to produce turfgrass seed have been plowed under in the last two years and planted to other crops - particularly wheat. There are adequate supplies of most species today, but that will start to change later in 2010 and 2011.
